Welcome to CCWU’s on-line, electronic library.
The CCWU Library provides every student access to the following:
On-line tutorials
Tutorials teach the user to navigate the library and the Internet. For
instance, Internet 101 instructs students how to do research on the Internet,
locate statistics and images in a variety of fields, to evaluate Internet
information, and how to cite Internet sources.
Research Assistance
Research assistance consists of a core collection of topic-oriented research
guides that provide overviews of major academic disciplines and business
topics. Resources include books, periodicals, government and Internet
resources, and others. Key subject areas in Humanities (for example)
include American literature, Biblical studies, and folklore. Key subject
areas in the Social Sciences include education and communications. Key
subject areas in Business include global and conflict management.
Research Resources
Resources include links to more than 3,000 content-rich Internet sites,
each of which has been evaluated by a librarian. Resources also include
links to more than 325 federal government sites that provide access to
150,000 full-text government documents. The library also provides students
with a career development resource center and access to thousands of
full-text books.
Research Databases
You will have access to the following important databases, most of which
contain full-text articles:
- Expanded Academic ASAP—indices, abstracts, and articles from
approximately 1,200 periodicals in a wide range of academic fields.
- Business and Company Resource Center (including Newsletters ASAP and
Predicasts PROMT)—overview of markets and technology, and a rich
source of information on individual companies.
- Computer Database—sources on computers and technology.
Health Reference Center-Academic—indices, abstracts, and articles
from periodicals and other sources on a wide variety of topics related
to heath and health care.
- National Newspaper Index—Index of newspaper articles.
- Custom Newspapers—full text articles from New York Times, Los
Angeles Times, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, and St.
Petersburg Times.
- Books in Print—index of all books in print.
- Infonautics—The Electric Library. The sources include
full text books, magazines, newspapers, maps, and transcripts of TV/radio
news
and other
programs.
